Gonzalez Byass brings Ashton Hills Pinot Noir to the UK for the first time

Published:  23 January, 2018

Gonzalez Byass has signed a deal as the exclusive distributor of Ashton Hills, marking the UK debut for the Adelaide producer’s Pinot Noir wines.

The deal, which takes place with immediate effect, sees Gonzalez Byass add a trio of Ashton Hills Pinot Noir to its portfolio - Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir (rrp £28.00), Estate (rrp: £40.00) and Reserve (rrp: £60.00).

Founded in 1982 by Stephen George, Ashton Hills has built a reputation as one of Australia’s finest proponents of Pinot Noir and cool climate whites, with George’s pioneering one of the catalysts for the development of the Adelaide Hills as a wine region.

For over 30 years George experimented with up to 25 Pinot Noir clones, ultimately settling on five key clones that now make the Reserve and Estate Pinot Noirs from Ashton Hills, plus a range of sparkling wines.

In 2015, George transferred his stake in Ashton Hills to Wirra Wirra Vineyards, but he continues to work closely at vintage with the Wirra Wirra winemaking team to continue the tradition of producing benchmark wines from the Ashton Hills site.

The trio is available now through selected independent wine merchants and on-trade accounts.
