Gonzalo Pedrosa has stepped down as head of Port company Sogevinus in what has been described as “a mutually agreed decision” between the board and the former CEO.
Pedrosa, who spoke enthusiastically about his ambitions for the company in an interview published in the June issue of Harpers, is to be temporarily replaced by acting CEO Daniel Nomdedeu Rodal while a new incumbent is sought for the role.
A spokesperson for the company told Harpers: “The board felt that Gonzalo had done excellent work restructuring the company but that his role had come to a natural end, and this was a mutually agreed decision between the board and Gonzalo Pedrosa.”
They added: “The board is looking for someone with more wine knowledge, staff have been informed and trading continues as planned.”
Under Pedrosa’s direction this dynamic port company, which specialises in single vintage Colheita wines, doubled its global sales in 2016, with a 25% increase in the UK market, and plans to grow its UK presence by another 30% through 2017.
