The 2026 Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards has released its list of gold, silver and bronze medal winners.
The announcement comes after a week of judging in early March.
This year, 74 Chinese wines achieved a gold medal – up from the 35 awarded last year.
Wynn said that this reflects a “remarkable leap in the quality of Chinese wines”.
These gold medal winners now go on to the final stage of the competition, where they will compete for the 36 trophies to be handed out to wineries at the 24 April awards ceremony.
These include awards such as the ‘Best Wine of China Trophy’, ‘Wynn Sommelier’s Choice’ and ‘Best Young Winemaker’.
Further prizes will be split across three categories: Wynn Signature Trophies; Varietals Champion Trophies; and Regional Champion Trophies.
The awards ceremony will be followed (on 25 April) by a ‘forum’, with a talk on the future of Chinese wine, and a day of walkaround tasting, designed to showcase some of the award-winning wines this year.
A judging panel made up of 23 experts – including Andrew Caillard MW, Xing Wei MW, Jasper Morris MW, Tim Triptree MW, Dr. Jamie Goode, Terry Xu, Ronald Khoo, Tim Marson MW and Christina Packard – conducted rigorous blind tastings to decide which wines were worthy of an award.
The panel tasted more than 800 wine entries from almost 180 Chinese wineries, evaluating them according to the international 100-point system.
Medals were awarded based on score, with bronze requiring 85-89 points, silver 90-94 points and gold 95-100 points.
To promote the ceremony, Wynn has also partnered with Cathay Pacific to display and serve some of the award-winning wines at its Hong Kong International Airport VIP lounges, along with hosting overseas tasting events and working with organizations such as Christie’s, 67 Pall Mall and Watson’s Wine.
