Domaines Paul Mas adds Domaine Les Verrières to its portfolio

Published:  25 February, 2019

Domaines Paul Mas has added Domaine Les Verrières, in the Grés de Montpellier appellation, to its portfolio of estates.

The first releases are Les 7 Fontaines and Clos de Soutyères which are now available in the UK. These will be followed by Les Pierres Plantées, the first blend overseen by winemaker and owner Jean-Claude Mas.

“At Domaine Les Verrières, the Syrah and Grenache vineyards are between 20 and 30 years old; certain plots of Carignan are over 40 years old and there is even a 60 year old parcel of Cinsault,” said Mas.

“The yields here are low, with traditional vinification where we alternate pumping over with punching down, and using long macerations. As ever, with estates which we take into our portfolio, the emphasis is with working with the existing attributes of the Domaine, and simply adding the Paul Mas approach to it.”

Domaines Paul Mas was started in 2000 by Mas, fourth-generation grape grower in the Montagnac region, and is now a collection of 15 estates across the south of France.
