Berry Bros & Rudd (BB&R) has appointed Joe Fattorini as head of London sales for its in-house UK wholesale arm, Fields Morris & Verdin (FMV).
Taking on his new role Monday 18 June, Fattorini takes over from predecessor Andrew Higgs.
Recognised by many after two series of The Wine Show, for the past 20 years Fattorini has worked across the on-trade, most recently for Bibendum where he was director of sales for London.
Before his relocation to London, he managed teams and national accounts across central and northern England and Scotland for both Bibendum and Matthew Clark.
Fattorini’s “considerable trade experience”, would be invaulable to both the FMV and BB&R wholesale channels, said Matt Davies, MD for FMV and BB&R wholesale.
“I know Joe is looking forward to working with our impressive portfolio of producers and getting out there and catching up with customers - both old and new,” he said.
Referring to London as the most “vibrant and exciting” place for wine lovers in the world, Fattorini said it felt “very special to join the industry leading FMV team”.
“Having filmed at BB&R for the second series of The Wine Show, it feels a bit like a home from home. Sales is what I do best and when this extraordinary opportunity came up, I didn’t need to be asked to join twice,” he said, adding “the portfolio is the best there is”.
Fattorini’s thirty-year career in the drinks industry has seen him work as a sommelier, retailer, wholesale merchant and trade journalist.
In 2016, his role as wine expert in The Wine Show saw him renamed 'Obi Wine Kenobi'.
