Mouton Cadet has been confirmed as the official wine of the 35th America's Cup, the oldest trophy in international sport.

Mouton Cadet will be the exclusive wine served during the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series, as well as in all official America's Cup outlets. It will also be available in selected shops around the world promoting the competition.

The sailing competition takes place in Bermuda through May and June 2017.

Hugues Lechanoine, managing director of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, said: "I am thrilled that Mouton Cadet, the worldwide Bordeaux brand, has entered this new partnership with the America's Cup, the oldest and most prestigious sailing event.

"We are both international brands with a strong history, ours dating back to 1853. But first of all, we both rely on team spirit as a means to achieving the best results - whether making high quality wines or steering a race boat."

Sir Russell Coutts, chief executive of the America's Cup and himself a five-time winner, said: "We are proud to have Mouton Cadet as our partner.

Profoundly attached to traditions, Mouton Cadet and the America's Cup also possess an innovative spirit that guides us to always look beyond and expand our audiences globally."

The America's Cup was established in 1851.

Mouton Cadet was created in 1930 and is now one of the leading global Bordeaux wine brands.

It has been associated with a number of prestigious sporting and cultural events, including the 2016 and 2018 Ryder Cups. It has been the official wine supplier to the Cannes International Film Festival since 1992.
