Jura wines to partner with Comté for 2016 tasting

Published:  10 October, 2016

This year's Jura wine trade and press tasting will feature the region's other principal export - Comté cheese - for the first time.

The event, titled the Wonderful World of the Jura, will take place in London on November 8. It will be co-hosted by the Comité Interprofessionnel des Vins du Jura (CIVJ) and the Comité Interprofessionnel de Gestion du Comté (CIGC).

Those attending the tasting will be able to sample wines from 17 producers made from local grape varieties Savagnin, Trousseau and Poulsard as well as international varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The region's wide range of wine styles will be represented, with crémants available alongside the Jura's signature vins jaunes and sweet vins de paille, as well as elegant Chardonnays and fruity reds.

The event will also feature a Comté cheese masterclass led by cheese expert and journalist Patrick McGuigan, as well as interactive Comté and Jura wine-matching workshops.

Jura wine expert Wink Lorch will host a Jura wine masterclass, while special guest Graham Harvey will talk on the importance of more natural agricultural processes in both delivering better quality produce and protecting rural biodiversity.

Harvey is the agricultural adviser to BBC Radio 4'sThe Archers and the author of Grass-Fed Nation.
