The 'Best Wines of Tuscany' - a showcase of 960 of the region's top wines, is to come to London in March.
Jointly organised by the Italian Trade Commission and Toscana Promozione, the bi-annual, region-wide tasting will promote the best new wines from 70 top Tuscan producers as judged by independent international experts at the 9th Selezione dei Vini di Toscana competition.
The competition, run by Toscana Promozione in collaboration with Enoteca Italiana di Siena, the Italian Wine Oenologists Association and the Italian Trade Commission (ICE), has two main aims; to highlight the best regional wine production and to support Tuscan producers in their quest for better quality.
The winning wines were selected in Siena in November by ten independent judging panels made up of 77 highly qualified professional oenologists, sommeliers and specialist wine writers from Italy and around the world.
In addition to the main tasting, Jane Hunt MW and Tuscany's award winning oenologist, Dr. Barbara Tamburini will be presenting up to twelve of the highest scoring wines from the competition in a tutored tasting.
Director of Toscana Promozione, Dr Franco Ignesti, said: "This independent selection of top wines from Tuscany illustrates the world-class quality, style and current trends available from today's Tuscan wine production. I believe it is important that the UK trade and press are reminded of this, as the spotlight on Italian wines has been temporarily drawn to other styles of wine."
The tasting will take place at London's Dorchester Hotel on March 1.
