BRL Hardy, the major Australian wine producer and sponsor of the Stamp Out Breast Cancer' campaign, has issued a statement following reports of a research paper linking alcohol with breast cancer. BRL Hardy Europe Ltd is aware of the report released on 12 November 2002 by Cancer Research UK disclosing results of a collaborative study on the relationship between alcohol and tobacco and breast cancer. BRL Hardy has been working on various fundraising initiatives with the charity Breast Cancer Campaign during 2002 and is proud of the positive contribution it has made to Breast Cancer Campaign to date. When the two organisations set out to work together a review was undertaken looking at existing research into the link between alcohol and breast cancer, which showed at the time that there was no concrete evidence to confirm a link between the two. Given that the company has been working with Breast Cancer Campaign BRL Hardy will be making a full analysis of the report in conjunction with BCC and Cancer Research UK, but is unable to comment further until this has been completed.'
