Australia launches Directions To 2025 strategy at LIWSF

Wine Australia launched its biggest marketing strategy for more than a decade on the first morning of LIWSF.

In the decade 1995-2005:

the number of wine companies has increased by 125%, from 892 to 2,008;

export sales by volume have leapt by 465%, from 130 million litres to 735 million litres;

the area under vine has risen by 143%, from 65,000 hectares (ha) to 158,000ha;

the average price per litre for export wine (A$ FOB) has fallen 18%, from A$4.66 (1.93) to A$3.80 (1.58).
