The Wine Society has introduced a ‘click & collect’ service that allows members to have their wine delivered straight to a local store.
Introduced for the “many members” unable to wait in for weekday deliveries, the service gives the opportunity to select one of 3,000 local stores (all of which belong to the Pass My Parcel network) from where to pick up deliveries.
If placed before 12pm Monday to Friday, the order will be available for collection the following morning, and will be held at the store for seven days.
The service, which is free on orders of at least 12 bottles, or with a spend of at least £75, had been introduced in response to demand from “especially younger members” of The Wine Society for more flexibility when it came to delivery options, said PR manager, Ewan Murray.
“Other merchants and multiples have a click & collect’ service to their own or associated stores, but we believe this to be widest ranging such service offered by any UK wine merchant,” he said.
A soft launch of the service had worked “well beyond" initial forecasts, hence the decision to now roll it out officially, added Murray.
There will be no changes to The Wine Society’s existing delivery service, which uses a mix of its own 30-strong van fleet based in 10 hubs around the country, together with selected third-party couriers.
