Jascots unveils new plans for expansion

Published:  29 March, 2017

Jascots Wine Merchants have officially opened a new extension at their London head office which will house the growing needs of the supplier.

The on-trade specialists said the expansion has come about as a result of growing demand and year-on-year sales growth, which increased by 10% in 2016.

The extended premises also marks plans to grow their current permanent staff member base, which currently sits at 50 employees.

Managing partner John Charnock said the move marked a 'significant commitment' for Jascots, providing the foundations for future growth.

Local MP, Andy Slaughter, visited the business on Friday, March 24, to open the extension.

Earlier in the year, the Hammersmith MP visited Jascots to learn of the challenges the wine industry is experiencing in the face of currency devaluation, rising duty and inflation.

It was equally important to listen to the concerns of the trade as well as celebrating success, he said on Friday, adding that, "Government needs to be doing more to address the concerns of the industries like wine importers who rely on the smooth flow of trade with the EU."

Charnock added: "We've been working closely with our suppliers and clients to minimise the impact of Brexit thus far and believe it's important that we all do our part to ensure the future of this industry and help our members of parliament understand what they can do to assist."
