Vivino adds 'Netflix of wine' feature to its app and website

Published:  22 March, 2017

Leading wine app Vivino has today launched a wine recommendation engine aimed at helping wine retailers and merchants increase their digital customer reach and sell more wine.

Described by Vivino as the 'Netflix or Amazon of wine", Vivino Market aggregates all Vivino's retail partners' wines into one centralized shopping forum where users can browse and purchase from their list of customized recommendations.

Leveraging data from Vivino's community of 23 million members, the feature would enable wine merchants and retailers to sell their wines to and engage with the "ever-growing" wine community, which now had more than 1.3 million users in the UK, said founder and ceo Heini Zachariassen, adding currently 30,000 unique wines were available for purchase in the UK and 80,000 in the US.

Vivino Market provided UK retailers with a "great opportunity" to partner with Vivino and increase sales, said Zachariassen.

"We see ourselves as the Netflix of wine; we use historical preference data and the power of our growing community to provide recommendations that wine drinkers can feel confident about, without even needing to taste test before purchase."

There is no sign-up fee to become a Vivino Market partner, with merchants paying a flat percentage commission fee only on orders shipped.
