Buckingham Schenk creates buzz with new Spanish duo

Published:  23 February, 2017

Wine importer Buckingham Schenk is expanding its portfolio with two new Spanish brands.

The duo, which will be revealed at the Wines from Spain Annual Tasting next month, comprises Gran Castillo and La Pepica.

Inspired by the Spanish kingdom of the Castillo era, the former consists of three tiers - Gran Signature, Family Selection and Reserva.

In addition, there will be a Dulce de Moscatel dessert wine and a Gran Castillo Ice sparkling wine.

La Pepica, a new range inspired by and named after the famous paella restaurant La Pepica founded in Valencia in 1898, comprises a red Monastrell and a white Viura Sauvignon Blanc from DO Valencia - both house wines served in the restaurant.

The newcomers came at a time when there was a "real buzz" about Spanish wines, said MD Craig Durham, adding they would add to the already strong offering in the UK.

"We are incredibly privileged to work with such premium Spanish producers which allows us to offer some outstanding wines to both our on and off-trade customers."

Earlier this month, Buckingham Schenk celebrated a 19% hike in annual turnover on the back of booming sales of its Italian sparkling and Malbec tipples.
