Greenwood takes UK & Ireland helm at William Grant

Family-owned distillers, William Grant & Sons has appointed Rita Greenwood as its new managing director for the UK and Ireland.

Chris Mason, who is the current UK and Ireland managing director will concentrate on his role as managing director for developed European markets.

Greenwood's has extensive experience at William Grant, with previous roles including managing director global travel retail, managing director developed European markets and UK commercial director.

Greenwood said: "I am delighted to be taking on this role in the UK, we have a strong business in the UK that has been driven by a talented and passionate team. I look forward to working with them to build on their success."

Greenwood and Mason will take up their positions on February 15, reporting into Simon Hunt, the company's chief commercial officer.

The appointments coincide with the departure of chief executive Stella David, which was announced towards the end of 2015.

Hunt said: "Rita and Chris are both incredibly experienced and effective leaders who, over the years have been instrumental in the development of our business in the UK and Europe.

"These are complex markets and the change in roles for Rita and Chris will mean a refreshed focus in all areas that will drive forward our ambitions. I wish them both well."
