On-trade wine supplier Matthew Clark has appointed Judith Nicholson as assistant wine buyer to help expand the group's wine portfolio.
The current wine list comprises over 1,300 wines including over 200 new lines.
Nicholson was a wine buyer at Averys in Bristol before joining Matthew Clark earlier this month. She is currently studying for her Diploma.
Nicholson said: "The thing I love most about wine is that you can never stop learning about it. There's always someone, somewhere trying something different. There's always new things to explore."
Simon Jerrome, purchasing director for Matthew Clark, said: "I'm really pleased to welcome Judith to the team, there's plenty to do. Judith will be an invaluable asset to the buying team as we look to expand and develop our wine offering to the on-trade to provide the best range available to our growing customer base."
The firm, which employs 1,200 people, supplies wine, beer, spirits and cider to over 16,000 on-trade outlets in the UK. It also offers hospitality training, labour management and marketing support to operators.
Matthew Clark sells 5 million cases of wine per year, with wine accounting for 32% of its total sales by value. Following a revamp of its wine portfolio earlier this year the group saw wine sales increase by 7%.
