Portuguese winery Esporão has launched its first vintage port with Quinta dos Murças 2011 wine.
The launch coincides with Esporão's 40th anniversary, and head winemaker David Baverstock combines the region's unique geography, geology and old vines to produce it.
In addition to the new port, Esporão has also grown its Assobio Douro DOC portfolio to include an Assobio White 2013, a blend of local Viosinho, Rabigato and Gouveio grape varieties and Assobio Rosé 2013, made up of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francisca and Touriga Franca.
Barwell & Jones' marketing head Fiona Juby, said: "For Barwell & Jones the Quinta dos Murças Vintage 2011, Assobio White 2013 and the Assobio Rose 2013 are fantastic new additions to our portfolio offering us new opportunities within the on and off trade."
Head winemaker David Baverstock added: 'I am delighted that we are able to use these very old, low yielding vines that produce extremely concentrated grapes, highly prized for vintage port, but also very complex and intense wines."
Barwell & Jones will be showcasing the Esporão wines later this week at the New Douro tasting on February 20 between 11.30am and 5pm.
