"Go West!", an event bringing California, Oregon and Washington state together for the most comprehensive joint generic tasting for the region, is scheduled to take place on March 17, 2014 at the QEII Conference  Centre in Westminster, London.

Similar to what the UK wine trade saw with the Beautiful South Tasting held in the Autumn of 2013, with a joint generic tasting of Wines of Chile, Wines of Argentina and Wines of South Africa, consolidation of generic tastings seems to be the name of the game right now.

The success of these types of tasting is driven primarily by the sharing of costs, but also allows for merchants and buyers a one stop shopping experience and avoids having to have buyers attend three different tastings and give up three different days away from their businesses.

"We felt that the synergy between the three US west coast regions made the decision to exhibit together really a no-brainer.  Pressure on people's time and budgets means that one tasting, in one place, at one time makes great sense for wineries, importers and trade buyers," said John McLaren, the UK director of the Wine Institute of California.

All three states have held separate tasting in the past and this will be the first collaboration for each of the wine bodies within the UK.
