Chilean wine producer, Santa Rita Estates, is to once again hold its South American Wine workshops in London in January as part of its three year educational programme.

The workshops, to be held at the Institute of Civil Engineers on January 15and 16, are focused on educating the press, independent merchants, educators, buyers, and the on-trade about the quality and diversity of South American wines.

Tim Atkin MW will be the chairman for the two day event and will have with speakers including Australian oenologist Brian Croser who has worked extensively in South America.

It will also include the expert views of a number of South American wineries from major producers including Santa Rita winemaker, Andrés Ilabaca, Sebastián Labbé winemaker at Carmen, Nativa winemaker Felipe Ramirez and Doña Paula winemaker, David Bonomi.

Terry Pennington, the UK and Ireland commercial director of Santa Rita Estates, firmly believes the key to the continued success and support of consumers for the South American wine category lies in educating the trade. "We have been greatly encouraged by the enthusiasm and willingness of the trade to learn as demonstrated by the demand for places on our workshops," he said.
