Nyetimber continues to expand overseas with a new contract to supply its English wines to Denmark.
The move follows Nyetimber's distribution deal in Japan and marks the winery's first European contract. From September 1 Philipson Wine will have exclusive distrubution rights in Denmark for Nyetimber including its award winning sparking wine and will be sold alongside its Champagne portfolio.
"Although Denmark's culinary brilliance used to be unknown outside of the country, the New Nordic Cuisine has created a Danish gastronomy revolution with an entirely new focus on local ingredients over the last decade," said Eric Heerema, owner and chief executive of Nyetimber. "That is quite similar to Nyetimber's story as after 25 years of being appreciated exclusively by wine connoisseurs in the United Kingdom, our wines are now enjoying increased popularity around the world."
Christian Philipson, owner and chief executive of Philipson Wine, said: "We are thrilled having been chosen as Nyetimber's first European partner. I have followed Nyetimber personally for the last 10 years and have admired the constant increase in quality of England's best sparkling wine, year after year. I am looking forward to introducing Nyetimber to the finest restaurants and wine lovers in Denmark."
Nyetimber's first listing in the country is the award winning AOC restaurant, which will be serving its Nyetimber Classic Cuvee 2009 by the glass from September 2.
