The tutored tastings will be hosted by Wines of Turkey, the umbrella body for Turkish wines under the campaign banner 'Heart of the Grand Terrain'.

Bal, who originates from Turkey will be hosting a tasting at the Wines of Turkey stand G45 "The Best Turkish Wines for the British on-trade" on May 17.

Chairman of the International Wine Challenge, Charles Metcalfe will be guiding visitors through: 'Top Turkish Wines', including winners in the 2011 IWC in the Masterclass Theatre and Caroline Gilby MW will be offering a tasting tour of indigenous and international varieties on the Wines of Turkey stand, both on May 18.

Bal, who originates from Turkey, said: "We now find many interesting wines from keen wine producers making wines of distinctive style and quality. Turkey does very well with international grapes but also has a treasure chest of indigenous grape varieties."

Taner Ogutoglu, director of Wines of Turkey, said: "It is ripe time for Turkey to find its place in the global market place.

"There have been phenomenal improvement in wine-making, production and quality over the past decade with great potential still to be realised - and as such our wines are really starting to seize the attention of international wine trade and press alike."

Participating wineries include; Doluca, Kavaklidere, Kayra, Pamukkale, Selendi, Sevilen, Vinkara & Yazgan.

Wines of Turkey won 181 medals globally in 2010-11.
