Greenall's invests £250,000 in production line

Published:  15 October, 2010

Gin and vodka maker Greenall's is investing £250,000 in the opening of a third production line at its Warrington headquarters.

The firm, which currently produces more than 50% of the UK's gin and vodka alongside its own branded products - Greenall's, BLOOM, Berkeley Square and Cristalnaya Vodka - has set its sights on becoming the UK's largest distiller and bottler, with this expansion.

The company, which was established in 1761, currently claims to be the second largest gin manufacturer in the country. It currently produces 6.5 million nine litre cases of spirit annually.

The aim of the investment is to bring production of its key brands back under one roof, as well as being able to distil, produce, bottle and package in one location.

A fire in 2005 devastated the prodcution facilities, meaning the firm had to outsource some of its services.

Mark Parton, operations director, said: "The introduction of line three is an exciting time for us as a business - we're now able to undertake our own brands and third party production on site, plus there's huge potential for growth with our new capabilities for size and shape flexibility."

The company is also looking to recruit six additional personnel to manage and run the line.
