Independent merchants get the chance for a trip to Chile

Published:  07 June, 2010

Independent merchants have the chance of winning an educational trip to Chile in a new promotional campaign from Wines of Chile.

To help celebrate Chile's 200 Years of independence and its National Day on September 18, Wines of Chile is to run a one month promotion through independents to help publicise Chilean wines.

It is looking to offer seven independent wine merchants from seven different regions of the UK the chance to win a trip to Chile in the first quarter of 2011 as well as a cash prize of £500. Twenty runners up will be awarded a prize of £500.

Michael Cox, Wines of Chile's UK director said: "These are exciting times for Chile and the diversity of style and variety Chilean wines offer, combined with exceptional value for money, is proving to be a God-send for enlightened independent wine retailers. This promotion will help them realise that Chile really is the natural choice".

The competition is exclusive to independent wine merchants that have between one and five retail outlets with or without an online sales operation. Point of sale material will be provided to help advertise the promotion in store or on line including posters, corkscrews, neck collar designs, carrier bags, Chilean wine maps, booklets, bunting and USB stick preloaded with an educational video.

A judging panel will select the overall winners and runners up by the end of October 2010.

Amongst the criteria for judging will be an uplift of Chilean wine sales of wine retailing at £6.99 or above compared to same trading period last year; how the promotion is advertised and promoted to customers including, local press, wine evening/dinners and wine groups and how the merchants has promoted different Chilean wine regions and grape varieties.

To enter email info@winesofchile.org.uk or call 01344 72 229. Closing date for registrations is July 16.

The seven winning independent merchants and 20 runner-ups will be chosen by a panel of judges by the end of October 2010 and selected from entries received by Friday October 15.
