A Muslim man is suing Tesco for religious discrimination after he was asked to handle crates of alcohol in a warehouse.

Saudi-born Mohammed Ahmed, 32, told a tribunal that he was not made aware when he started the job that he would be required to handle alcohol, a task he said was against his Islamic beliefs.

Ahmed, who started working for the supermarket giant's Lichfield store last September, made a formal complaint in February, but claims he was victimised as a result of his complaint and forced to leave his job two months later.

Tesco denies Ahmed's claims. An employment tribunal continues.
