Michael Roux, owner of the Michelin two-star Le Gavroche restaurant in London's West End has said if it were not for his passion for food he would like to have pursued a career in wine.
Speaking to the Independent, he said in another life he would have loved to be a winemaker.
Roux added: "I own a vineyard but it's too small to make wine.
"Making wine is like growing fruit or being a farmer- it depends on the earth and on nature, and in the end you are left with a wonderful product."
Le Gavroche's wine list includes Chateau La Croix Toulifaut 1998, Pomerol and Mersault 1er Cru Poruzots" 1998, Domaine Mikulski.
