Published:  23 July, 2008

Major supemarket wine supplier ZGM is to spend up to 5 million on pushing its own brands in the UK.

New lines are to arrive from France, California, Spain, Chile and Germany, and a UK office for the firm is being set up.

According to ZGM's UK managing director Steve Howard: "We are looking to capitalise on the opportunity in this market. We aim to drive value over volume by launching premium wines based on consumer and market knowledge."

ZGM has already spent 175,000 on researching the UK market for these wines, and are investing 75,000 this year in more analysis.

In the last four years the company has grown from the 18th to the second largest supplier of wine in the German market.

"We look forward to working in partnership with UK retailers to deliver this strategy. We pride ourselves on excellent service, and our ability to deliver solutions incorporating bespoke packaging while sourcing fantastic wine," said Howard.
