Wine gift company to offset emissions

Published:  23 July, 2008

A company that sells gift packaging to the drinks trade, aims to plant a total of 29,000 trees on a plantation by the end of 2008 to offset its carbon emissions.

Winebox bought 66 acres of land in Bordeaux and planted 10,000 trees in 2007. This year it aims to plant another 19,000.

The company claims the plantation should absorb 319 tonnes of CO2 each year when fully planted. It also hopes to use some of the trees to make wooden wine boxes in the future.
