The harvest in Australian region Rutherglen, has got underway, and initial reports have been positive.
Mandy Jones from the Winemakers of Rutherglen Group, said the harvest would outperform that of 2008.
The north-east Victorian winegrowing region suffered last year from drought and bushfire smoke.
And despite hot weather this year - which brought the harvest forward by about a fortnight - a period of rainfall before Christmas boosted the crop.
Jones ABC News: "We're feeling a bit done in by the heat, like everybody, but we're feeling very, very positive about this year, especially after the year that we've had last year, which was difficult for many different factors."
