Bordeaux Wine Bureau's US push

US blind tasting flags up Bordeaux wines

A jury has been selected by the Bordeaux Wine Bureau to select the Top 100 2008 varieties sold in America for $8-$30 (4-14).

The move is seen as a way of promoting Bordeaux wine's affordability and accessibility.

The judging panel will include master sommelier Roger Dagorn of the New York-based Chanterelle restaurant, Barbara Hermann, fine wine director of Chicago wine retailer Binny's Beverage Depot and wine writer Leslie Sbrocco.

A blind tasting will be held next month (November) with the 100 best wines selected for trade and press tastings set to take place in April 2008 in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.

The Bordeaux Wine Bureau is a marketing organisation formed in 2005.
