Half of American, Australian and British wine drinkers drink wine at least twice a week, compared with a quarter of Finnish and 32% of Japanese wine drinker, the latest research from Wine Intelligence reveals.
Resistance to screw-cap closures was present across all the markets studied in the survey.
Over one third of respondents said they disliked screwcaps but 23% stated that they do like them and countries which found themselves less resistant to the idea included the UK, Australia, Finland and Japan.
This compares with 64% of respondents who said they like their wine sealed with natural cork compared to 4% of wine drinkers.
