Thieves' 20,000 Champagne haul

Published:  23 July, 2008

Thieves who broke into a London wine merchant last weekend made off with around 20,000 of Champagne.

The incident happened at Balthazar, based in Michael Road, Fulham, south-west London, some time between Friday (2nd) and Saturday night.

The stolen Champagne included: 40 magnums of 1990 Veuve Clicquot; 36 bottles of 1990 Louis Roederer; 11 bottles of 1975 Krug; two jeroboams of 1975 Perrier Jout Belle Epoque; four bottles of 1979 Veuve Cliquot La Grande Dame; two bottles of 1955 Krug; and six bottles of 1993 Amour de Deutz.

Director Charles Meyrick told Harpers: We're going through the CCTV at the moment. They knew what they were doing; it obviously wasn't a smash and grab.' Anyone with information on the incident should call Meyrick on 020 7348 7398.
