Volunteers collect world wines for charity

Published:  23 July, 2008

The Vinos Sin Fronteras (wine without borders) project has sent two volunteers to more than 15 countries to collect donations in the form of bottles of wine in aid of charity.

The trip, Around the world in 80 vineyards', starts in South Africa. In mid-February, Nicolas Beausset and Geraldine Reinhold Von Essen will head for Asia, Australia and New Zealand, before heading over to the Americas, finally returning to Europe in November.

At the end of the trip the wines will be sold off at auction in Barcelona, Spain, with all proceeds going to Action Against Hunger, an organisation formed in the 1980s which seeks to eradicate hunger worldwide.

The project is privately financed, and logistics company JF Hillebrand has volunteered to ship all the wines back to Barcelona to the auction.
