Richard Bell, of Calcot Manor in Gloucestershire, has won the Caterer and Hotelkeeper's Hotelier of the Year award.
The 24th edition of this competition, sponsored by Burgundian wine producer Louis Jadot for the eighth time, went to the owner of a property that until recently was a disused barn and farmhouse.
Bell's father converted the buildings into a 35-bedroom hotel with restaurant, gastropub and spa, plus an outside catering arm. The Calcot Manor complex is worth 7 million.
Marc Dupin, Louis Jadot's export director, presented
the award at the Four Seasons Hotel in London, the base of the 2005 winner, John Strauss.
