Bruichladdich beer

Published:  23 July, 2008

Micro-brewery Islay Ales has teamed up with neighbouring distiller Bruichladdich to produce a powerful and heady' beer.

Worts n' Ale!, which is brewed to a thumping' 9% abv, according to brewer Paul Hathaway, uses the pre-fermented liquor, or wort', from the distillery.

A total of 1,800 33cl bottles have been produced, at a cost of 3 each. It made its debut at last month's Islay Festival, and Hathaway says that the beer is for savouring, and certainly not for session drinking'.
