London’s first vegan Winefulness event is to take place in the capital as retailers ramp up their vegan wine offerings.
The new event had been created to demonstrate that mindfulness was not just for dealing with stress, but also about enjoying activities such as drinking wine, said co-hosts Emma Roberts of wine PR agency Eviva Communications and Andy Hix from Wellbeing Capital Partners.
“The event will also help consumers become more aware of what and how much they are drinking,” said Roberts, adding the initiative reflected a spike in vegan retail offerings.
“Many of the major high street and online retailers have ramped up their offerings of vegan wines this year in response to the surge in popularity of veganism,” she said.
With the Vegan Society reporting that there are now 542,000 vegans in the UK of which nearly half are aged between 15 and 34, the event is targeted at trendy, young, health-conscious Londoners.
The wines for the event, which will combine a tasting of the vegan tipples with artisanal vegan nut cheeses from I’m Nut OK, will be supplied by organic wine specialists Vintage Roots.
Neil Palmer, director and co-founder of Vintage Roots said: “Although we are known for being an organic wine specialist, Vintage Roots also has a substantial offering of vegan wines, and we felt this was a great opportunity to present a selection of them to an audience of healthy living millennials.”
The event takes place on Tuesday 23 October from 7 to 9pm at The Grocery Wine Bar & Vault in Shoreditch, London.
