Traditional Argentinian parrilla (grill) restaurant Chimis is now open for business in Southwark, where customers can taste their way through South America.
The restaurant takes the place of former popular Chilean spot El Vergel, and is the first restaurant from head chef Nicolas Modad and also Federico Fugazza.
When the founder of El Vergel retired, Modad and Fugazza – forming a trio with Mijal Lasus – took over the site to continue Southwark’s South American tradition in the area.
The menu focuses on charcoal-grilled meat and fish, with signature dishes including pulpo asado (grilled octopus with stuffed polenta), grilled lamb cutlets and Argentinian rib-eye and sirloin steak.
The drinks list is wine-heavy, with Uruguay popping up among Argentinian favourites.
