Alsace Crus & Terroirs gears up for first UK tasting event

Published:  24 January, 2018

The Alsace Crus & Terroirs organisation, created in 2015 by 19 of the region's top producers, has announced its first UK tasting.

The Terroirs of Alsace tasting, which will take place in London on 5 March this year, follows ACT tasting events in both Paris and New York in the past couple of years to promote the wines of the region.

The event will comprise a morning masterclass hosted by a group of Alsace vignerons focusing on 2010 Riesling, which will be followed by a walk around afternoon tasting.

The London debut was a natural next step for ACT, with the UK a “key market for Alsace wines” said ACT, adding despite the winemaking region being "one of the world's greatest" for a variety of reasons, both geographical and cultural, Alsace was not yet widely recognised as such.

“In 2015, a group of us decided it was time to take steps to rectify this, and Alsace Crus & Terroirs was born to help promote the wines of our region both in France and in key overseas markets.”

The Domaines of the ACT association, which has a special focus on Grand Cru and the terroirs of their vineyards, comprises Barmes-Buecher, Bott-Geyl, Albert Boxler, Josmeyer, André Kientzler, Marc Kreydenweiss, Loew, Albert Mann, Meyer-Fonne, Clos Saint Landlin, Ostertag, Marc Rinaldi, Martin Schaetzel, Schlumberger, Schoffit, Trapet-Alsace, Trimbach, Wwinbach, Zind Humbrecht and Valentin Zusslin.
