New LWF exhibitor area to focus on “cutting edge” drinks technology

Published:  15 November, 2017

More changes have been added to the London Wine Fair as organisers say they have been “challenged to drive innovation” within the drinks category.

Based on feedback from visitors, the fair has created an “Innovation Zone” to provide a platform for start-ups, tech, packaging and design, which will debut at the 2018 show.

The show is the first under the directorship of Hannah Tovey since taking over from Ross Carter immediately after last year’s show.

She said: “Innovation is an area which we felt needed to be much more of a focus for the wine industry at large. Having consulted with our visitor audience we realised there was a real appetite for knowledge of, and exposure to, companies looking to shape the future of the drinks industry, which was not being fulfilled elsewhere.

“We plan to be as outward looking as possible, sharing cross-sector and truly international content,” she added.

This is the second new section to be announced  in as many weeks, following the announcement of a new Drinks Britannia section which will champion home-grown and produced drinks.

The Innovation Zone will also feature a schedule of demonstrations and talks looking at the future of drinks technology.
