Friarwood is to open its second store early next month in Wimbledon Village, marking the first step in its expansion plans.
The independent fine wine merchant, which first opened its Parsons Green store in 1967, said the new outlet would replicate the “values held by the original store” and mirror the products available.
In addition, Friarwood Wimbledon would benefit from a larger showroom and bespoke display units designed to present the shop’s “exquisite portfolio perfectly”, said managing director, Ben Carfagnini.
The new opening marked the first step in the independent wine merchant’s expansion plans, he added.
Under Carfagnini, who acquired the company nearly three years ago, Friarwood’s portfolio has grown from being originally based around a heartland of Bordeaux and Burgundy wines to include an extensive range of wines consisting of both New and Old World products from across the globe, including Canada, Bulgaria, Italy and Australia.
Alongside introducing a new team of wine experts and customer service technology, Carfagnini was also behind the launch of Friarwood’s eCommerce.
Earlier this year, Friarwood introduced the monthly Discovery Tastings at Parsons Green. On the last Wednesday of the month Friarwood find partnerships to discover new wine and food pairings, and hold intimate tastings to allow customers to explore wines that are worth discovering.
