Bruichladdich, the single malt whisky producer formed in 2001, has announced an inaugural profit of 200,000 in 2004 . The profits were based on an export-led sales increase of 38%.
Chief executive Mark Reynier said: It is particularly gratifying, when many industry players said we would never succeed. We make no bones about challenging a somewhat monolithic industry.'
The company is forecasting that profits will double in the current year.
