Revenues double at Conviviality following "transformational" year

Published:  01 November, 2016

Conviviality Plc has reported strong growth across all three of its new business units, formed following the acquisition of Matthew Clark and Bibendum PLB.

Conviviality Plc has reported strong growth across all three of its new business units, formed following the acquisition of Matthew Clark and Bibendum PLB.

In the most recent figures released today, the group's revenues rose 211% to £783m in the 26 weeks to October 30, thanks to the revenues from the acquisitions of Matthew Clark on October 7, 2015, Peppermint on December 31, 2015 and Bibendum PLB Group on May 20, 2016.

Following these acquisitions, Conviviality underwent a full re-structure, with its key components organised into three business units: Conviviality Direct, Conviviality Retail and Conviviality Trading.

Sales of its retail unit, covering its franchised off licence and convenience chain, were up 2.5% to £189m.

Conviviality Direct generated a higher rate of growth in the company's wholesale business supplying the on-trade, where sales were up 5.2% to £515m.

Brand and wine agency Conviviality Trading saw sales grow 5.1% to £79m, with uplift driven by activity in the festivals and events sector.

"I am pleased that the group has delivered this strong performance across all divisions during such a transformational period," Conviviality CEO Diana Hunter, said. "This further demonstrates the teamwork and dedication of all of our people in maintaining excellent levels of service to their customers. The organic growth in each business unit demonstrates that existing and new customers are increasingly recognising Conviviality as the leading solution provider and distributor to the UK drinks market."

The results come just a few days after Conviviality Retail announced it had entered into a two-year supply agreement with Palmer & Harvey to provide lower volume beers wines and spirits in exchange for tobacco products to sell in its chain stores.

The company said it is making strong progress with the integration of Matthew Clark and Bibendum PLB Group and is in line with market expectations for the 52-weeks to April 30, 2017.
