Most Read: There was a world first for Diageo's World Class Bartender Competition when France's Jennifer LeNechet became the first woman bartender to take the crown. Meanwhile, an initiative to put Champagne at the forefront of bars and restaurants has given the category a welcome boost before the festive period begins.

On trade: There was cause for celebration and commiseration when the prestigious list of this year's Michelin starred restaurants were announced.
