Louis Latour Agencies has poached both Champagne Gosset and Cognac Frapin from McKinley Vintners. The two prestigious brands - both owned by family group Renaud Cointreau - joined the Latour portfolio on 1 August 2015.

Champagne Gosset was founded in Aÿ in 1584 and is the oldest wine house in Champagne. Its wines are primarily crafted from premier and grand cru vineyards and receive extended ageing before release.

The Renaud Cointreau family can trace its history in winemaking back to 1270. It has been involved in distilling for some 20 generations, and remains a single-estate winegrower and distiller. The Frapin estate is in the Grande Champagne region of Cognac and at over 300ha is the largest single estate in the area.

Champagne Gosset's iconic antique bottle has remained unchanged in design since the 18th century.

Will Oatley, managing director of Louis Latour, commented: "Gosset's iconic antique bottle is a familiar sight around the independent restaurant and retail sectors. We are excited about developing more fans and increasing distribution in these areas."

He added: "We are honoured to have been given the opportunity to work with Champagne Gosset and Cognac Frapin. The fine Champagnes and Cognacs and the family's philosophy perfectly complement our existing range of family-owned producers."

Jean-Pierre Cointreau, chief executive of Champagne Gosset and Cognac Frapin, said: "We are very excited about our new agreement with Louis Latour Agencies. Champagne Gosset and Cognac Frapin are a perfect fit to their existing portfolio of prestigious family owned producers and the new agreement will create a perfect synergy for the benefit of our customers."

Gosset and Frapin had been with McKinley for some 30 years.

Cointreau said: "We would like to thank McKinley Vintners for all their support and work in developing our brands over the last three decades. Their commitment and professionalism have helped position our brands and create a strong base from where we can continue to grow with Louis Latour Agencies."

Louis Latour Agencies will be working with Bertrand Verduzier, Renaud Cointreau's newly appointed area export director for Gosset and Frapin, who joined from Parasol.
