Gosling's rum and ginger beer set sail with official drink status for the America's Cup

Published:  20 July, 2015

Gosling-Castle Partners has signed a deal for its Gosling's rum and Gosling's Stormy ginger beer to become official drinks of yachting's America's Cup in 2017.

As part of the deal the brands will have a presence at the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series in Portsmouth next weekend, which includes a music festival featuring Wet Wet Wet, McBusted and Spandau Ballet.

The race ends in June 2017 in Bermuda, the home of Gosling's, which will have new UK packaging featuring the sponsorship. The UK event will be used to promote Gosling's as the rum of the Dark 'n' Stormy cocktail.

In the lead up to the final event in Bermuda, Gosling's will release an ultra-premium, limited edition decanter of its rarest aged rum.

Malcolm Gosling, president and chief executive officer of Gosling-Castle Partners, said: "Being Bermuda's oldest company, employing 100 proud Bermudians, we were thrilled when Bermuda was chosen to host the 35th America's Cup.

"Our excitement rose to a new level when Gosling's products were selected as the official rum and official ginger beer of the oldest trophy in sport.

"It is a natural fit as historically Gosling's Rums have been closely associated with the sport of sailing."

Kirsty Loveday, managing director of UK importer Love Drinks, added: "This partnership is one of the most important opportunities that we've had to raise awareness of Gosling's rum and ginger beer.

"We are working with our customers and accounts to make the south coast of England the heartland of Gosling's Rum and the Dark 'n' Stormy while these events are taking place."
