Free Run Wines adds first Aussie winery to portfolio

Published:  31 March, 2015

Free Run Wines is adding its first Australian wine producer, Morambro Creek to its portfolio from next month

Morambro Creek is a small, family-owned winery in the cool climate region of Padthaway, which specialises in Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

The Wiltshire-based supplier will be the sole distributor for the brand, which had previously supplied direct. It has two products listed in Waitrose, but is looking to push further into the UK market, primarily in the off-trade, although it is looking at on-trade distribution as well.

Free Run Wines will represent three brands in Morambro's portfolio - Jip Jip Rocks, Mt. Monster and Morambro Creek.

Director Charles Elms said he was really excited to be taking on the UK agency for Morambro Creek. "They have award winning wines from one of the most interesting regions in Australia. With an existing presence in the UK, three memorable brand names and a strong winemaking heritage, we are looking forward to building on Morambro Creek's success."

The move will strengthen the agency's Southern hemisphere range, following the addition of New Zealand winery Selaks last summer. It currently specialises in French wines and Champagne, which it supplies to the multiple retailers, and will potentially be adding a Chilean wine brand.

Selak's Merlot Cabernet will be launching in Majestic in June.
