Single-serve tulip wine glass Intrepid Fox, brought to market by entrepreneur James Nash after appearing on Dragon's Den, is being relaunched after the company was bought out.
Angel investor Ball Capital took over Wine Innovations, who produce the glass, and are looking to expand the brand further into the events, travel catering and convenience sectors.
The pre-packaged wine in a glass servings are aimed at cutting serving time and reducing wastage at high traffic events. The owners also insist the design "makes it ideal for both the travel catering and convenience retail industry".
The PET glass is sealed with a peelable foil lid, and can be stored for up to one year.
Speaking about the re-launch, Andrew Beasley, director of Wine Innovations, said: "It is a very exciting time for Wine Innovations. We have seen that the market is there, and the product itself is perfect for busy events where traders simply can't serve drinks fast enough. We are confident that we can build on the successes that Intrepid Fox has already enjoyed, making our product a leader in the event, convenience retail, and transport catering industries".
A number of similar products have recently come to market, including Spanish-owned Singlz by Inova, which signed a deal with Norfolk's Broadland Wineries last month. The first Broadland Singlz products are expected to launch on November 1, 2014. Earlier this year, Robertson told Harpers.co.uk the brand's rrp should be £2.20 to £2.25 for a 18.7cl serve.
Back in February, Inova signed a deal with French wine giant Les Grands Chais de France to fill its Singlz products. Prior to that point, Robertson said it was difficult to compete on price with other single serve PET bottles given the lack of a consistent supply contract.
