The Fladgate Partnership is set to release a collection of 50 year old single harvest Ports under the Taylor's brand.
The first in the series will be a 1964 Single Harvest Port which will go on sale globally from January 2014 to coincide with landmark 50th birthdays and anniversaries. It will be presented in a frosted bottle and packaged in a beech-wood box, with a recommended retail price of £150 a bottle. Around 2,000 bottles will be available.
The 50 year old wood-aged Port is said to have a long finish with "rich, spicy, black pepper flavours which linger on the palate".
Adrian Bridge, managing director of the Fladgate Partnership, said: "Taylor's holds one of the most comprehensive and extensive reserves of very old, cask aged Ports of any producer.
"They include a collection of rare Single Harvest wines which we plan to release every year to coincide with 50th landmark celebrations. There are few wines in the world which can match the longevity and freshness of these extraordinary Ports and the ones in our collection have survived in perfect condition."
The 1964 Taylor's Single Harvest Port will be followed in 2015 by the 1965. Further releases of 50 year old Single Harvest Ports will follow, according to the company.
