John Pearmund, chief executive of The Wine Society, has quit his post after just one year. Mr Pearmund, 50, is to become the new chief executive of Domestic & General, a provider of insurance for central heating and home appliances such as televisions and washing machines. While in charge of the Stevenage-based co-operative, Pearmund was also a non-executive director of Domestic & General and was offered the chief executive's post after his predecessor, Tim Scrivener, left to relocate to Ireland. A spokesman for The Wine Society said: Mr Pearmund was unexpectedly offered the job, and he felt it was a great opportunity to work at a major plc.' He added that a replacement for Pearmund had yet to be named.
