Laithwaite's Wine is keen to expand its Turkish wine offering on the back of the European Wine Bloggers Conference which took place in Izmir over the weekend.

Six months ago, Laithwaite's became the first off-trade retailer to stcok Turkish wine and founder Tony Laithwaite, attending the conference along with global wine director Justin Howard-Sneyd MW, plan to add at least one more wine following the trip.

Howard-Sneyd said: "The EWBC is a very important event for us - we have always embraced blogging for some time as a great new way to reach our customers and Tony Laithwaite himself was among the first retailers to blog about wine - telling stories straight from the vineyard through his blog.

"We really believe that technical innovation is the way to enrich customer experience - the redesign of the Laithwaite's website and launch of our App are just two ways we have upped our digital offering recently and through our sponsorship of the EWBC, we want to show our commitment to blogging as a hugely important platform in the wine industry.

"From pioneering wine practices to pioneering wine places, with this year's conference taking place in Turkey, we just couldn't resist indulging another of our passions by picking up some new Turkish bottles too - our Turkish Vinart Kalecik Karasi Syrah 2010 went down a treat with customers and critics alike and we just know there's plenty more where that came from."

Laithwaite's has a portfolio of more than 1,400 wines and is part of Direct Wines, the world's largest independent wine merchant with annual sales in excess of £340 million.
