Guy Anderson Wines has unveiled Piggy Bank, a range of wines that aims to engage wine drinkers through social media while raising money for good causes.
For every bottle sold via Ocado and later in the summer Waitrose Wine Direct and selected Waitrose stores, GAW will donate 50p to charity.
When Piggy Bank reaches £10,000, it will distribute the funds proportionally between the charities, according to the votes of consumers, via their mobile or at the Facebook page.
There are six wines in the range from winemakers Giorgio Flessati (Chile), Thierry Boudinaud (France) and Norrel Robertson MW (Spain)
The venture launches in June with the two Chilean wines, a Sauvignon Blanc and a Syrah.
Owner Guy Anderson, says: "Social media offers tremendous opportunities for wine companies, but few have unleashed its potential so far.
"It can engage wine drinkers more effectively than traditional marketing channels."
"Piggy Bank is different to other 'virtual' campaigns because we are inviting people to not only spread the word about our wines, but also enabling them to support good causes that mean something to them personally."
